Pedantic Romantic

He never bought her roses
their name was far too short
Aspidistras were his choice
far better, so he thought
They never dined on burgers
for they were far too fast
He always gave her slow food
as he liked to make it last
A rapid peck upon the cheek
each morning as he left?
no, a long and lingering kiss
would stop him feeling so bereft
and when it came to music
pop was alright on the whole…
but a full orchestral symphony
was the thing to fill his soul
words long and short inside his head
could make him smile or frown
and so he let them tumble out,
and in poems put them down.
