The Winner of July’s Mini-MOLP Writing Contest

Poster for Postcard from the Park writing contest from Magic Oxygen

Tracey Delaplain, winner of Mini-MOLP4 from Magic OxygenWe’re thrilled to announce the winner of our Postcard From the Park Mini-MOLP writing contest.

Tracey Delaplain from Reno, Nevada has scooped the title with a brilliantly crafted piece that wove in a very well researched slice of American history!

In response, Tracey said: “I am thrilled to have won the Mini-MOLP with ‘A Wild Idea’. To quote Baba Dioum, ‘In the end we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught.’ I love what you are doing at Magic Oxygen and I’m grateful for the opportunity to spread your message and mission through my own work.”

Tracey Delaplain is a physician and surgeon. She writes and has published essays in compassionate healthcare, healthy living and flash fiction. She cares deeply about healthy living which must include safe drinking water, food security and education for all but she also knows the value of preservation of natural resources and wild spaces for future generations. ‘A Wild Idea’ embraces the hope that we can work together despite our individual interests to preserve our wild and beautiful spaces.

You can read more of her work at and Her publications are included in The University of Nevada School of Medicine, ‘History of Medicine series’, University of Oklahoma School of Medicine, ‘Blood and Thunder’ and General Journal of Internal Medicine.

She has won 10 of our best selling titles and a little extra something too, which has proved a bit tricky to source… but the best things in life are worth waiting for – I know this to be true as I didn’t find my soulmate until I was 45!

As with our slightly grander Magic Oxygen Literary Prize and every other entry to the Mini-MOLP contests, Tracey’s winning entry has resulted in a tree being planted in our Word Forest in Bore, Kenya. They have also helped fund the building and fitting out of a brand new classroom in Kundeni Primary School in the same community.

Our writing competitions are the only ones in the world where everyone wins!

Tracey’s writing and literary achievements will be given a well earned springboard on a couple of pages in the Magic Oxygen Literary Prize Anthology 2017 and will be published for all to enjoy.

Speaking of which, from midnight tonight, the third Magic Oxygen Literary Prize will be open for entries. Click here for details and get your entry in!

Congratulations Tracey on your splendid win and good luck to all who enter #MOLP3!
