If you are looking to gain first-hand experience working in the publishing industry, we might be able to help.
This year, we are delighted to offer 4 or 8 week intern programmes and are inviting candidates to apply now in writing; interviews to be held soon in Lyme Regis.
We will provide comprehensive training and experience in the fields listed below but must stress, they are unpaid roles. We’ll also provide sustainable, seasonal, locally sourced, organic, Fairtrade lunches and beverages throughout your stay. The standard working week would be Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and you’ll be based at our office in Lyme Regis.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for books, a huge creative streak, a meticulous eye for detail, a willingness to learn, good computer skills, an interest in producing promotional media and more than a modicum of confidence.
Depending upon the length of your internship, our programme should be able to offer hands-on experience in most, or all of these fields:
At the end of your time with us, we will issue you with an Internship Certificate and a detailed reference showing what you’ve achieved with us, highlighting any areas in which you excelled.
If you are able to commit to the 8 week internship, you should have had time to advance a manuscript sufficiently to have your name listed inside the book as Editor.
We hope the skills you glean from our programme will help you secure your ideal job in the publishing world. It will certainly give you an edge over job candidates who haven’t got practical experience and it may help you identify precisely which areas of publishing you want to pursue.
Magic Oxygen Publishing belong to the IPG (Independent Publishers Guild) and have produced 15 paperbacks, 15 eBooks and have a further dozen titles in production.
