Is Social Media Important for Authors? Ask Anthony

Anthony RavenwoodWe have a prolific writer and talented musician in our stable of amazing authors, Mr Anthony Ravenwood.

He penned The Breathing Wheel, a children’s fantasy fiction book with wonderful illustrations by Stephen Bayliss and it landed on bookshelves at the tail end of last year.

He is now fully immersed writing a soundtrack to accompany his story and will be giving live performances in the not too distant future. If I had to pick a couple of artists to give you a sense of his musical style, I would say Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Alan Parsons; I’m sure you get the idea…

Anyway, this was meant to be about how social media can elevate your status and spread your message but I suspect I may also have piqued your interest for this enigmatic author.

The London Book Fair 2014

Cover of The London Book Fair 2014 DirectoryWhat a terrific three days we’ve had spreading the word about our talented authors at the London Book Fair in Earls Court.

Paperback copies of Dear Mother, Action Plan for Living With an Alcoholic, The Breathing Wheel and more were shown to interested parties with great pride and we also discussed our forthcoming titles Children of the Crater and Off Her Facebook! the graphic novel amongst many others.

Rather coincidentally, the 1st day of the fair also shared the 1st anniversary of our inaugural paperback publication, Poetry of Divorce: for women by Tracey West.

Without wanting to sound too nostalgic – after all, it has only been 370 days – our compact and bijou team feel we’ve come a long way during that time. With almost 20 titles either out in paperback or e-book and the rest in production, it’s certainly not shabby progress in what is a very challenging, volatile and occasionally fickle market.

Press Release: The Breathing Wheel

The Breathing Wheel by Ant RavenwoodAnthony Ravenwood has a bounty of creative credits to his name.

As a musical and film director, songwriter, performance poet and lead singer of one of the country’s best tribute bands, he finally adds author to the list, with his début fantasy fiction title for children, The Breathing Wheel.

It’s a tale that spans over 300 years and has been rolling around in Ant’s head following a holiday in the late 80’s to Llandudno in North Wales where he visited a watermill. It lit a spark in the core of his vivid imagination and as he regularly lost himself listening to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis, the wild adventure fleshed itself out in his mind.

Over 20 years later, the story has found its way to Simon West at Magic Oxygen Publishing in Lyme Regis and has a publication date of Monday 25th November 2013.

Simon explained, ‘The Breathing Wheel is a captivating read with grandiose creatures, evil hags and ghostly souls in equal measure and love and hope at its core. It’s ideal for young readers and lovers of fantasy fiction alike.’
